In 2010, under the leadership of the State Council, CPI steadily practiced the Scientific Outlook on Development, accelerated the transformation of development mode, centered on the three major tasks of "guarantee development goals, increase profit and promote strategic transformation", and realized all tasks in 2010 and all goals for Step I of the Three-step Strategy.　　
By the end of 2010, CPI's installed capacity exceeded 70GW, of which clean energies accounted for 30%, continuing to top the five Gencos both in terms of amount and proportion. Sticking to the guideline of electricity as core, coal as basis and integrated development of all industries, CPI's production capacity of coal and aluminium reached 72.75 million tons and 2.08 million tons respectively. CPI's total assets reached RMB 430 billion and revenues exceeded RMB 120 billion. Despite the consistently high coal price and the increase of fuel cost in thermal power companies by RMB 7 billion, CPI's total profits reached RMB 4.5 billion, equivalent to over 10 billion if taking into account the coal price hike. All goals for Step I of the Three-step Strategy have been comprehensively realized.
In the past year, CPI implemented the decisions and deployments of the central government and the State Council, actively performed its social responsibilities as a state-owned company, sped up efforts in energy conservation and emission reduction, and fulfilled all targets for the shutdown of small thermal units, energy conservation and emission reduction. During the 11th Five Year Plan, CPI achieved the goal of cutting total SO2 emission by 35% one year ahead of schedule, and reduced 52,000 tons more SO2 than committed to the country, making proactive contributions to meeting China's goal of energy conservation and emission reduction during that period.
CPI's achievements are inseparable from the firm leadership of the central government, from the strong support given by governments on all levels and the society in general, and from the diligent work and dedication of all CPI employees. 2011 will be the opening year of the 12th Five Year Plan, and also the first year in Step II of CPI's Three-step Strategy. Under the firm leadership of the central government and the State Council as always, CPI will continue to accelerate the transformation of development mode, innovate system and mechanism, deepen reform and enhance governance in an active attempt to build a world-class energy group.
